Professor Charlotte Hanlon

Prof. Charlotte Hanlon lives and works in Ethiopia. She is co-director of the Centre for Global Mental Health and the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Research and Training at King’s College London. The main focus of Prof Hanlon’s work is on developing, testing and implementing interventions that seek to improve the lives of people with mental health conditions in low- and middle-income countries. Prof. Hanlon led the first service trial in a low-income African country for people with severe mental health conditions, showing that primary care workers could deliver mental health care as safely and effectively as mental health professionals (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanpsy/article/PIIS2215-0366(21)00384-9/fulltext).
